PolyEdit - A Lightweight, Fast, And Easy-to-use Alternative To MS Word Or OpenOffice Write

PolyEdit - Icon Each word processor has its own strengths that others don’t have. While MS Word and OpenOffice Write include all simple and professional tools for office works, PolyEdit is for another thing. It is designed to be a fast, easy to use, lightweight and reliable word processor. You will probably be amazed when it can do many stuff while the memory it consumes and the time to start is quite smaller than others. You may export your document to HTML or PDF, and add pictures, graphs, media clips, equations to your document. As it is a real WYSIWYG editor, you can also edit your web page. Moreover, just with some simple customizations, you can make it a syntax highlighter for viewing source code files.

  1. I've been using PolyEdit for years. It still suites me better than any of the others. I don't care about Office Suits because all I need is a way to write short stories. It just works. The export to HTML is a little bloated and outdated, but the file is half as big as the Word export. Poly Edit Lite is free for personal use and worth a look.

The spell checker associates with WordWeb, also a great, free application. I can't get by without either.
