Ask a geek which is the best image processor, he must absolutely says Photoshop. But when ask him about the best alternative for Photoshop, he probably says he doesn’t know or GIMP.
GIMP is a great image processor and it is almost the default application for this task on Linux and Unix systems, and even on some Windows systems including mine. It is also easy to use if you take time to play with it for a while.
However, the most reason most designers don’t choose it for their job is the lack of plugins. Yep, we must admit that there are not many plugins for GIMP in comparison with Photoshop. But lack does not mean there isn’t. In case you are a GIMP ninja or just a fan, try these 5 useful and funny GIMP plugins.
